Pros

Johnson Controls is made for two types of people: 1. People who are from the Midwest or specifically Milwaukee and want to stay there. The company has the same benefits most large companies in the area have and the pay is decent. You can join and just coast for as long as you want. 2. People who play the conservative political game hard. Want to climb the corporate ladder? Don't care what you have to do to get there? JCI is the place for you. It's conservative, it's incredibly political so come play the game.

Cons

JCI is not looking to be competitive with benefits cause they really don't have to. Consider 10 days of vacation generous. The bad to good people ratio is way off for a company this size. There are good people, but you gotta work to find them. It's a huge company, that is rather volatile, incredibly conservative, especially for millennials, and really they're just cost cutting to make money at this point.

Pros

Decent base pay and fast paced work makes the days go by quickly. Lately the company has been actually investing in their new product lines ever since Joakim became our CEO.

Cons

The compensation is lacking. No bonuses whatsoever for senior level engineers even when they're recognized as a key contributor on the team. We are given our 401k match on March 1st to cover the previous year's matches so you lose out on a lot of the year's market gains. The healthcare coverage is mediocre at best for a fortune 500 company. The raises are still given like it's 2018; 3% is considered a "good" merit increase. This is due to the "forced distribution" merit increase system where only "so many" people can receives "above expectations" raises.
