Pros

This is a great place to work if you want stable employment with decent benefits, and/or are extremely passionate about the aerospace and defense industry.

Cons

Every company is a balancing act. There needs to be a balance between Customers, Shareholders, the Executive Team, and Employees. Unfortunately at LM, Employees come last. Bright young college students come with aspirations to someday be CFO/CEO, and quickly they realize it will never happen, and then they seek employment elsewhere with companies that are willing to pay people what they're worth. LM fills the job market's need of giving college students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to work 40-50 hour weeks and fit in with an organization, so that they're a less risky option after they start applying elsewhere for more money/autonomy/respect. Classic top-down hierarchy with too many layers. The survivors of the 50's-90's who currently populate management thrived in a dark time where harassment was rampant, and you only got ahead by bullying others working long hours while loudly suffering about it to anyone who would listen. Don't forget the relationship with the military with their pseudo fraternity system of getting abuse to later abuse others, as it translates into the industry it supports. On a related note, 95% far right wing political leaning, with the remaining 5% just looking for a paycheck. Every corporate value makes it sound like a utopia and a very forward thinking company, however at every turn, those same policies are turned around to abuse their employees in diabolical ways. HR like in many other companies exists to reduce liability and lawsuits to the company. As a result, reporting any misconduct is viewed negatively since noticing that something is very wrong is a perceived risk. Any action taken to remove someone who engages in discrimination will result in retaliation in subtle ways, despite an explicit zero tolerance for retaliation.

Pros

High level of integrity throughout the company, open communications, and sincere interest in doing the right thing.

Cons

Unfortunately, I need to come up with twenty words of cons. When in reality after 41+ years in IT, I have no cons for Lockheed Martin. They are not perfect, but highly acceptable.
