Pros

McDonald's is truely an american company that is looking for ways to maintain longterm growth. It is an exciting time with McCafe which should become as recognized to our brand as drive thru's and breakfast are for us. We often promote from within and have a fabulous team of owner opperators. And alot of them started out as crew people. We teach alot of people some basic job skills. We provide people with a great product at a fantastic value. McDonald's has some amazing products and employees even more amazing people. The atmosphere is fast paced and stimulating. We have the BEST Happy Meal program!

Cons

McDonald's talks about being about people, but we abuse our employees alot. Having to work weekends and holidays and 50 to 60 hours. It is amazing that anyone would take a multimillion dollar business and put teenagers in charge, and in a lot of cases not even have any type of admin. assistant. We don't give the training needed, because it takes away from the bottom line, and we do little to recognize our employees. The job is hard, the hours are long and the rewards are few. Its even officially labled. the "mcJob". Its hard to really have alot of pride in that.

Pros

Experience varies heavily depending on the owner/operator you work for. Free and discounted food. 2 weeks PTO. Vision, Dental and Health insurance. Offers rapid development opportunities.

Cons

Work-life balance is nonexistent. In fact, the director of operations has stated numerous times, “Work life balance is a myth”. The company states you are required to work 45 hrs/week minimum; Realistically, GM’s can expect to work 55-60 hours in store with constant calls and messages when home. The company does not count any work done outside of the restaurant toward your 45hr requirement. There is no training for this position as you are expected to figure it out on the job. They offer $2000 per month performance bonus but are always finding new ways to disqualify you and move the goalposts when you actually earn it.
