Pros

Generous benefits, including 4 months fully paid parental leave and paid-paid vacation ($3k/year stipend to spend on vacation) Live values of TAGFEE They do care about employees, and there's great work/life balance. It was rare to work more than 40 hours/week.

Cons

The culture is a bit click-y; lots of socializing / romantic relationships between staff outside of work. Feels like high school at times. The product hasn't been best-in-class in a long time; not enough innovation to improve it or introduce newer, better ones. They don't part ways with poor performers fast enough. I have worked for companies where it feels like you're on the A Team ... this feels like being on the B Team. There are certainly talented people at Moz, but there are also too many people coasting, which brings down the caliber of the whole team.

Moz Response

We appreciate you sharing your feedback and -- of course -- we wish you felt differently about your experience at Moz. We take a lot of pride in attracting and growing high caliber talent. Our people differentiate us and keep our brand strong in a growing and competitive field. We acknowledge that it is sometimes difficult to know the right time to part ways due to performance. We invest in every hire and do our best to work through performance challenges. When those efforts aren't successful, we do not shy away from making tough decisions. When this occurs, we treat people generously and with respect when they leave Moz. As difficult as it is, we're proud of how we handle these situations. We have also made a number of major improvements to our product and will continue to do so in 2018. We're feeling very positive about where we are headed!

Pros

Strong company culture that values innovation, collaborative teams with smart colleagues, access to cutting-edge SEO tools, supportive leadership that encourages learning, and plenty of opportunities to work on impactful projects.

Cons

Processes can feel slow at times for decision-making, workload spikes during product launches, some departments operate in silos despite efforts at alignment, compensation could be more competitive for the industry, and remote work policies were occasionally inconsistent.

Pros

Strong autonomy, interesting projects, good relationships with coworkers, plenty of room to grow internally, learning opportunities, remote work friendly, high pay for my field when I worked there.

Cons

Overwork, very low respect from corporate, low transparency from corporate, repeated layoffs damaging morale, hollowing out of unique benefits made overall package less competitive, Ziff Davis slowly killing a once great company.
