Pros

Competitive compensation Work-life balance Good product Not downtown Paid parking

Cons

Wood Mackenzie touts its culture as a positive distinctive. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Their culture is one of the most unusual and toxic that I have witnessed. It is rare to be part of an organization where dissent is so common and expressed so openly. No positive suggestions for reform simply a constant groan of discontent from across the organization. Senior management is mostly absent as you don’t often hear from them and they certainly are not around to provide anything resembling leadership. In my experience there is no rationality to their business decisions. It is largely based on emotions and relationships. Leadership is invisible Lack of vision Juvenile and toxic culture Lack of accountability at senior levels European culture of “read between the lines” or guess what I’m thinking Lack of transparency and ethics Almost no investment in people Reactionary policies based on fear

Pros

Appreciated working with smart, driven colleagues; they were truly experts in their fields. The rigorous schedules we were on were strictly maintained, which usually made for a very organized structure and workload.

Cons

Leadership went through many changes and acquisitions while I was there. The mission seemed to keep changing, and it wasn't easy to maintain consistency in our reports with such leadership changes. Market analysts were often pulled onto consulting projects but were not paid as consultants. This is what pushed me to leave.
