Stable job security with great colleagues, but limited growth - Marketing Manager the LEGO Group Employee Review

Pros

Pretty stable in terms of job security, get to work with lots of great people who are intelligent and ambitious. Strong competitive base package, and generous bonus based on company performance, as it's a private company. Work-life balance is pretty good, and flexibility to manage your own time as long as you get the job done.

Cons

Easy for leaders to be comfortable in their role, so they don't necessarily give you the support you need day to day. There are very limited growth opportunities, and from a development pov, there are internal rules around line management that make it hard to be a team manager unless you're senior. Global roles are split between different countries, where benefits differ greatly. i.e some offices have more holiday days, so you can end up covering for colleagues over the summer when they're off for an extended period of time. Too many cooks, which results in confusion over R&R and meetings spent discussing process and ways of working versus delivering results. A lot of managing up to leadership versus focus on team wellbeing and campfire sessions, with the onus put on teams to 'fix' problems.

Pros

Store manager is the best manager in any industry I have worked with in over 30 years of employment. LEGO Group takes very good care of their employees with perks, raises, discounts etc. Again a great company with a great manager; this job is awesome!

Cons

Product is so in demand it’s hard to keep hot products in stock disappointing guests.

Overworked in the weekends and holidays there was many times where the store was understaffed and we needed more employees to work High School Mentality with some of the employee's people would have clique groups during work Going back to employees there was some employees that were very lazy and or incompetent and nothing was done about it
