Cons
LEGO as a whole is an incredible company, but there are significant disparities with LEGO Germany. Currently, the company emphasizes diversity, which is commendable. However, it seems that LEGO Germany is moving in the opposite direction. There is a notable focus on hiring foreigners to demonstrate open-mindedness in recruitment practices. However, after these individuals, particularly those from developing countries, are brought on board, their treatment takes a different turn. They are treated as if they lack value, and their opinions are considered insignificant, diminishing their competence compared to their European colleagues. I have witnessed many experienced professionals at LEGO Germany being treated this way, despite their wealth of knowledge and experience. The mindset of "You are coming from a poor country, so you should be grateful for whatever we give you" is prevalent within LEGO Germany. This kind of treatment comes from some colleagues as well. The overall atmosphere is very old-school and conservative. While the majority of colleagues are polite, it takes a long time for them to truly accept you as part of the team. If you are a non-German speaker, it can be even more challenging. This and the department heads' attitudes towards foreigners make it difficult to enjoy working at LEGO Germany.
