Pros
ThyssenKrupp Quartier, more than great facilities: modern environment, comfy offices, parking places, amazing cantine. International environment, many interesting people to meet and good opportunities for networking inside the company. Green areas and shopping mall close to the Quartier. Close to Düsseldorf airport (20min ride).
Cons
If you are not German (and even "worse", if you are a woman) it will be difficult to make your point in you team, to be considered, to be promoted. Obviously, this depends on your department, but you'd better be prepared for it. Decisions from upper management taken all of a sudden, affecting lower levels. Project responsibilities not clearly defined, lack of operations/field knowledge. Good place if you don't like to work extra hours, hard, Friday afternoons, under big pressure...and you like more-than-generous salaries: place for medium-hard workers who pretend to do more than they actually do. Ruhr/Rhein area is not the nicest in Germany. Specially Essen is not a really beautiful city, definitely not a lively one. Licals tend to do activities indoor while autumn/winter and escape from the city limits in spring/summer.
