Pros

In general, employees were enjoyable to work with.

Cons

Pay is about 40% lower than competition, benefits are about 60% lower than competition. The position I took following this job resulted in a 250% increase. Management does not respond well to state of the art operational excellence strategies and tools. Nor do they wish to sponsor improvement activities, do not appreciate identification of root causes of problems and will retaliate against those that point such out, with data. Absolutely no advancement opportunity, manager never had discussion of such in 3 years, way behind the times in managerial best practices, much micromanagement. The expressed vision, mission and culture is quite different than reality.

Pros

Relaxed atmosphere, freedom to explore new ideas without pressure from management to adhere to their personal preference of software. I got to touch a lot of different systems.

Cons

The shift work was terribly irregular. Lots of the time I ended up working all 3 shifts in one week and could never, ever get on a good sleep schedule. I didn't have much of an opportunity to move up in the company.

Pros

Mission based founded on Benedictine values. Great views and some facilities are beautiful. Quality patient care. Opportunities for training and learning.

Cons

Scrambling to prepare for health care reform, managers have too much to do. Workforce has sense of entitlement and the many unions intimidate managers and can make managing employees a challenge. Moving away from Benedictine roots.
