All Around Questionable Business Practices

Pros

Employees are entitled to 10 free FlixBus rides

Cons

Questionable business dealings with vendors and the company's status as a bus operator. They intentionally operate in an administrative gray area to avoid costs and responsibility The company values the bottom line over everything else. Business contracts are as worthless the paper they're written on. The company has been known to eliminate entire departments in an instant and you will be asked to cut corners in the name of saving the company a few dollars.

Good people, lost leadership

Pros

Get to work with some really passionate people in all the departments low-stress environment Flexible work from home policy even before covid HQ in Germany provides strong support for local efforts to all countries Good insurance and compensation good PTO policy

Cons

Departments are siloed, lacking cross functional communication. Departments rarely know what each other is working on. Leadership is lost and sends mixed signals. One moment the company is positioned for success, the next minute the US team gets cuts in half and remaining team members have salary severely cut. Shady business practices like operating in cities or stops without proper approvals. Forced to look the other way. Mass layoffs on the US team that seem random The US team is divided into West team and East team with redundant positions but team members that handle national team get sacked like HR.

Pros

International outset is the biggest pro of the job.

Cons

- If you are in the local team, you need to deal with bunch of juniors and interns that tend to repeat memorized formulas, not knowing their job and not having wider perspective. Yet, you still need to obey. - Anything that is non-standard doesn't fit into the culture of the company. When working outside of the HQ you don't have any opportunities to make anything not fitting schemes. - It comes out that very often there is nobody that you can ask about something that is multi-department or seems for them to be non-standard. Often you are sent to dozen different people and still have no answer as the people either don't know the answer or are afraid to take responsibility. - Arrogance is something which describes most of the staff in the central team. Yet, if you dig deeper, it seems that they know something, but in very narrow area. - Communication is something that the company struggles with. On one hand they want to control all of the comms, on the other, they complain that there is too many mails and can't handle this. - You are only cog in the wheel. The way the company is managed doesn't leave any doubts. - The company is mean. And makes often stupid savings, spending a lot on the things that could be easily cut down.
