Pros

The people were great and there was free lunch with beer on Fridays. There was a good amount of autonomy. The company has a lot of potential and there were many employees who were motivated by this potential.

Cons

Management was adversarial and cliquey. They would alternate between being uninterested in a project, then micro-managing. Projects were cancelled regularly due to lack of resources. People would be fired out of the blue and turnover was higher than it should've been. Salaries were decided by haggling more than any kind of official pay range.

Pros

- As an engineer, Freelancer is big enough to solve interesting problems at scale, but nimble enough for you to make a huge impact. - You get to work with really smart people, that are all really motivated to do great things. - The best idea really does win. It's a flat organisation structure and you can communicate your ideas quite openly and have discussions where the whole company gets involved.

Cons

- Struggling to think of any
