Pros

GDIT does have a pretty good time off system, for being a VA contractor. Pay was pretty alright. Was making closer to 17 dollars an hour, which is almost livable for the area.

Cons

The work is very annoying to deal with. This job is advertised as a position that affords you the opportunity to troubleshoot hardware/software issues, when in reality this position is nothing more than a glorified call center (should clarify, if you like that type on environment, then go for it), and there is no troubleshooting involved, it is just reading from a script. This position is basically non-stop calls, with about 15 seconds in between to get prepared. The work is not difficult, but I wanted to clarify that with whoever the potential employee is. The reason I left was due to the lack of internal promotion opportunities. When you are first hired, and you are done with your "nesting phase", you are subject to random quality evaluations (again, not anything out of the ordinary) and you are told "if you meet the quality evaluations, then you will be promoted to a new position in 6 months." After exceeding every quality evaluation, and taking additional steps to get more advanced technical certification on my own time, such as the CYSA+ and the Pentest+, all of my internal job applications would be denied, because the system (workday) auto denies an application if you do not have an active security, or Top Secret clearance.

Pros

Good Benefits, decent salary, a manageable workload, some co-workers were very nice and enjoyable to speak with.

Cons

My immediate supervisor created a team environment that was hostile, and where a majority of team members were afraid to ask questions and communicate freely in our team chat. The supervisor treated you as if you were dumb or should know everything already when questions were asked. This created such a bad team culture! In addition, after only 5 months on the job, a large majority of the people on the project I was working on were let go, including myself, due to a loss of funding. This was an extremely disappointing notification as I had been planning on sticking with GDIT for a while. But, to be let go after only 5 months is quite honestly extremely unprofessional and disheartening. Do not hire more people than you can afford! We had just gotten a new hire 1 month before we were notified of our layoff...

Pros

In my job, very little supervision, lots of freedom, and the ability to travel!

Cons

They work you to death!!!!! No room to breathe, work overflows into your personal life. Your life is no longer a thing. It is SERIOUSLY impossible to keep up with their crazy stat guidelines in the MD area, Florida was easy as cake. Some managers are under trained and dont have your back. Turn on you in a second to cover their own butt.. Altogether, I came in right before it got bad and Im preparing to leave before it gets worse! In addition to this, no yearly raises or promotions and the pay sucks.
