Pros

Attentive HR, management tries to get to know you, other employees are usually fairly intelligent, most things are well-organized, efficient, and dependable.

Cons

A lot of cost-cutting puts a lot of pressure on management to fulfill a lot of associate-level functions while still managing. Heavy on store-level administrative work without the support. Hence, everything falls on management's shoulders.

Pros

H&M was great a few years ago. Right now, the positives at my current store are my employees, who work hard but we still have fun, the benefits, and the discount on clothes.

Cons

H&M has lost sight of what made it an awesome company to work for. It used to be about people development, maintaining a work/life balance, appreciating employees for their hard work, and allowing employees the time to do things right. Now it's all about efficiency, pushing employees to their limits, and asking managers and sales advisors to do a ridiculous amount of work in an amount of time that is nowhere near enough. I can multitask with the best of them, but most days I leave work feeling like I accomplished nothing that I was supposed to. I have also noticed that the district team is also stretched thin, managing way too many stores, and losing sight of what's important. Members of the district team also have favorites ( which makes me sound bitter, I know, but I've been on both sides of this one, having been a favorite and being replaced). The favorites are given all the credit and praise, as well as the opportunities to support other stores and guest designer launches. Those that aren't the favorite get either no feedback, or they are given pretty baseless negative reviews as a way to support their choice for their favorites to get the better opportunities. In addition, a lot of stores are understaffed in management, and those that are left are given very little support, are basically being asked to fill several management roles, and not only not getting any appreciation for working so hard, they are not allowed overtime, nor are given any extra compensation for working way above and beyond their job description.

Pros

They have awesome guest designers. The discount is great considering how affordable the clothes are.

Cons

Its not about how hard you work. Its about who's butt you kiss and who likes you. Thats the only way to get a promotion
