A Disillusioning Experience with Unrealistic Promises and Poor Treatment
Pros
- Hugo Boss has a strong brand and name recognition, which can be a valuable addition to your resume. - The products are high quality, and great to have in your closet when you eventually leave.
Cons
- Misleading Compensation: I accepted a low salary of 250,000 NOK/year based on promises from management that my commission would add 10,000-15,000 NOK monthly. In reality, the commission was closer to 1,000 NOK, which felt like a bait-and-switch. - Unpaid Overtime: For nearly three months, I worked six days a week but was only paid for five. When I tried to use the extra days off as overtime, it was not only deducted from my salary, but I was also told I had no overtime hours. Management had deleted all recorded overtime hours without any explanation. - Health Negligence: While working, I suffered a stroke on the job and was told to wait until someone finished their lunch before I could go to the hospital. The complete disregard for employee well-being in such a critical situation was alarming and unacceptable. I spent 10 days in the hospital. - Uniform Misrepresentation: I was told by the manager that it was mandatory to wear 10cm stilettos as part of the uniform, which wasn’t true. This caused long-term damage to my feet, with the insides of the shoes stained with blood after just a month of use. - Poor Treatment of Female Staff: As the only full-time female staff member, I experienced an unfair dress code and lack of support from management, which exacerbated the physical toll the job took on me. - Lack of Transparency & Accountability: There was no acknowledgment or apology for the overtime issues, and management seemed indifferent to the well-being of staff, particularly women.
