Pros

Hitachi works with a wide range of technologies and engineers have an opportunity to develop skills with a wide range of projects and products. Engineers can often move within the company to experience engineering from the design and manufacturing.

Cons

A very large part of the major engineering decisions are made in Japan and often local engineers have little say in the initial creation of the assembly lines. There is no local investment in R&D.
