Pros

At the entry level, it has a nice pay package. This company is among top 100 company's in the fortune 500 list by sales.

Cons

The locations are really tough, Many are unknown to even the local people. The location in-charges still behave in the most autocratic ways & are not even aware of the term "self esteem" of employees. They are least trained managers available on the earth as far as decision making & analyzing the situation is concerned. Too many persons are posted at a location. Most of the people have very less or negligible work to do, they put hindrance in day to day working by creating issues out of non-issues. Most of the critical instructions are verbal not on paper which leaves an employee to be manipulated after. They don't have transparent policy even for core jobs leave aside employee welfare.

Pros

India's largest Public Enterprise, a Maharatna Company. Job security. Wonderful learning experience (in Refineries division).

Cons

It's three companies in one: Refineries Division, Pipelines Division and Marketing Division. Postings to any one of these divisions are not given to the new recruits based on their academic background. Specially, fresh Engineers who want to put their learning to practice, and gain expertise, will be thoroughly disappointed in Marketing Division, where they may be posted without anyone asking for their choice. The HR policies, therefore are very incoherent, although they keep getting awards for best HR Practices. The general assumption that government employees are lethargic, becomes true, at least in Marketing Division. An employee for more than a year is yet to get an Identity Card - I guess that sums it up.
