Pros

I think that the growth opportunities, if you really want to achieve a specific level (specially on technical side) is always possible to get. Sometimes you have to fight with politics and bureaucracy but if you really want to get something you have a good opportunity to get it.

Cons

There's a lot of politic games because the company tend to compensate the individual achievement over the group or division. So everybody is worried and fighting about how to get his/her own successful personal project, no mater if you have to pass over a colleague. Thats is for me the worst part of work for intel.

Pros

Big established company with cache within the industry. Established culture eases entry into position. Generally easy to get along with most co-workers and immediate supervisory levels. Recent perks include free drip coffees, teas, and fountain drinks. Bonus plans involve entire company, meaning that we improve as an entity and "under-performing" groups do not necessarily get slammed in the bonus process. Medical benefits options are plentiful, with several choices that one could choose based on needs and cost. Profit-sharing tends to take a bath when the stock slides, but the 401k setups generally involve funds that are well-managed. Good people work here...

Cons

Pay generally somewhat less than "industry standard", sometimes as much as 20%; medical costs increasing even when company contribution decreases due to overall decrease in benefit cost; extremeny tight-lipped concerning major job-affecting events, to the detriment of the general worker population, even to the point that the board has been concerned; At times it becomes difficult to procure what's needed in order to perform job duties (this is department- and group-dependent) due to some in middle management being more concerned about minimizing costs at a bottom-line level as opposed to suspending or eliminating "nice - to - have" tools, equipment and services...

Pros

World class products and technology. Resources to invest in interesting projects. Many great people. True integrity as an organization.

Cons

You are expected to work like you are in a crisis - all the time. Your manager has too much control over your career and life. Only ~50% of the employees actually add value or generate revenue - the rest spend their time communicating, updating and justifying what they are doing - all at a "Type A" frenetic pace. You are responsible for your own employability (which is OK) but the company really has no idea what skill they will need beyond ~ 6 months. Consequently, they lay off existing employees and then hire the skills that are needed for today. Very wasteful and demoralizing.
