Pros

Jefferies is well positioned for a revovery in the financial services marketplace. Jefferies minimizes its exposure to risky business lines and proprietary trading, and is well capitalized to withstand downturns in the economy. As the market turns around, Jefferies will continue its leadership position as an independant and diversified investment bank and institutional brokerage, catering to small and mid-size firms.

Cons

Favoratism runs rampant at Jefferies. Hiring and promotions are based on who you know, not what you know. Many times, mid-level management stiffles communication because they are more interested in promoting themselves and their "cronies" rather than foster open communication, build trust and share knowledge between different groups.

Pros

The culture breeds success through competition, provided the markets are cooperating of course. There is no stifling bureaucracy or 25 layers of middle management. The focus is on the bottom line, so you can focus on doing the best possible job without the typical corporate BS. If you do not want to be part of large, impersonal organization with bumbling management, its a great place to work.

Cons

You will not enjoy the "perks" of a typical corporate job, no gyms, very little training. If you are someone who needs a lifeline or a clear path to follow, instead of making your own path, then you may end up aimless.
