Pros

You learn how to be a professional, the training is fantastic and the networking opportunities are valuable. You get to join the Big 4 club and that stays with you for the rest of your career.

Cons

It is just grueling. There is a solid reason that people leave and turnover is high. The whole structure of the firm requires to over-work the staff and managers. It's tough for families.

Pros

Large network of resources, excellent training (both technical and soft-skills), brand recognition within the industry, and opportunities for travel are all available at KPMG.

Cons

Same issues here as there are at many firms: extreme favoritism when it comes to raises, promotions, and recognition, issues with work-life balance, difficulty balancing views of management and staff when it comes to feedback. KPMG seems to be the most reactionary of the Big 4 when it comes to issues, changes in corporate culture, and technology, and that makes it very frustrating to envision staying here more than three to four years. Turf wars, in addition, are to be expected but I would expect senior management to understand the impact and take steps to reign the counterproductive pieces of those games in, but they don't.

Pros

Generally good people to work with. Like anywhere the quality of the people you most directly work with was the key element in your success and progression. Some great people who really were at the top of their field.

Cons

It is an still an series of small practices under one brand. Many of the processes and systems are still being figured out and progress on HR, knowledge sharing and the advisory products were neing developed on the run. There were a couple of partners who were not good to work for and because they were 'the owners'of the business no one would confront them.
