Pros

my experience was great and learned alot in my time there. there people were exceptional. very friendly, very smart, and always willing to help. i was able to sign up for recruiting and share my experiences with recruits, which i found rewarding. events were always fun, and there was always something to do.

Cons

the hours were the main downside of working at kpmg. alot of driving and clients not near your home. be prepared to work long hours, including weekends. most work is expected and clients view you as the enemy.

Pros

Big 4 status. Training and access to major clients

Cons

Political. No support for working women. Basically, they will assume that you will be calling in sick for your kid's sake and will purposely exclude you from key engagements. If you are not chargeable for a little while, then there is negative perception and your opportunities to get other engagements are lessened. You need to devote too much of your time in building relationships for advancement otherwise no-one would speak up for you.

Pros

Strong support to help pass UFE exam. Excellent people. As far as audit firms go, I would recommend KPMG in Vancouver. KPMG paid overtime during my first two years, which for me was essentially travel time. I was fortunate to get the opportunity to travel within Canada, USA, Central America and Africa. These experiences alone were great. However, KPMG is big enough, that if you don't want to travel, there are plenty of local jobs.

Cons

Auditing was not a rewarding job for me personally. This is not a KPMG specific negative - it is more of a job specific negative. Basically, regardless of how well you build relationships with clients, they are always happy to see you leave at the end of the audit. I didn't enjoy that part of the job.
