False promises Too many obstacles for promotion, but they will give you all the work of the higher level Different departments working like smaller businesses so no consistency on process

Engineering & Technically interesting sector to work.

Cons

Weak leadership & poor management who's aim is self-preservation rather than being leaders and managers, supporting their team. Multiple layers of unnecessary management.

Pros

Flexible working with regards to hours and location (role dependent). Opportunities for career development in areas and roles I'd have never considered. Many excellent support networks. Great on-site facilities and subsidised catering.

Cons

Promotions are hard to come by unless you change function or leave the company altogether (sometimes feel there isn't the commitment to keep employees?) but they are possible, just frustrating when you can see inconsistency across levels / grades. I could get paid higher elsewhere, however the sum of all the additional benefits are definitely worth taking into account.
