Good recruitment process for graduate scheme
Pros
good scheme for grads, they tell you that they are investing in you which is true, you get lots of support and opportunities, and you make more money in the 2 year scheme than you make for the company, so they are trying to get you to stick around and become a part of their company talent. bristol site is nice, you can basically pick when you work during the week, as long as you do 37 hours excluding breaks, so most people do 8 hours a day with a half hour break and 5 hours on a friday. you get access to loads of discounts and ways to pay for things directly from your salary saving you tax and national insurance. Honestly, the gradcracker page i looked at listed all the benefits several times and made it seem amazing which is why i applied, only issue was getting accepted. They just told the grads that there were 9000 applicants and 200 of us were accepted, i tried for 4 years to do that so i think i just got lucky.
Cons
Cons are how hard it is to get in, i applied for a year in industry when i was in uni and for 3 years after graduating, got lucky on year 4, not sure how. After speaking with lots of the other grads a lot of them have done masters degrees and i havent so that may have affected it even though they say you just need a bachelors and a 2:2. It was probably because i got an actual job with relevant work experience and it was for a charity which looks good on a cv. In terms of actually working here, downsides involve getting used to the tight security, there are some really strict procedures and rules in place which can be a bit of a hassle, but not really a big deal. they tell you to network constantly, which for an introvert like myself is a bit of a nightmare, as they say its critical to getting ahead in the company, but i cant comment on that yet as ive only been here 4 weeks.
