Pros

The schedule is flexible and the employees get along well with each other. McDonald's offers free employee meal when you work a shift of 4 hours or more. It also offers health insurance, and offers 25% discount at the restaurant your work at.

Cons

The pay is poor (little over minimum wage). Also, the amount of hours you are scheduled per week is not guaranteed (you can be scheduled for 35 hours in one week, but just 25 hours the following week). You're also working hard on your feet the entire shift because the work is fast-paced and high-pressure. And customers get angry if you don't serve them quickly. Lastly, the turnover rate of the employees is high, so you're constantly dealing with new workers who are in training, and therefore lacking full productivity; hence, you have to pick up their slack.

Pros

McDonalds is great for someone who enjoys a fast-paced highly evolving environment, loves working with teens and teaching them skills that will later help them in their own careers no matter what that path takes them down. If you are a highly motivated individual it is very possible to hit salaries that reach beyond $32,000+, though it doesn't take place overnight. If you are skilled and ambitious I believe you can go very far with the management career path at McDonalds.

Cons

The biggest downside is that I work very hard at McDonalds and internally that gets recognized... but externally most people will look down at you and think you have an easy job. I worked as a PC technician for years and tell you that was much easier then the day to day stress of budgeting, discplining, and helping further the growth of a McDonalds store. Ultimately though it might seem odd to hear... McDonalds is a job about passion: passion to commit yourself to making your store the greatest it can be, passion to oneself in what you can accomplish despite how the outside views you. If you are looking for a job that makes you look great to the outside world, then forget it, this is a job that can eventually lead you into high management $65,000+ positions but its a labor of love to get there.
