Pros

Porsche is a historically stable employer. You get access to a subsidized lease program that cuts the cost of driving a new Porsche down by anywhere from 1/2 to 2/3. The brand is exceptionally strong and comments a lot of respect. 5% 401(k) matching and a 4% enhancement means you can get up to 9% retirement matching, which is great. Bonus pay for strong performers can be well in excess of the stated ranges, but that is discretionary and dependent on business performance so it isn’t a given. Depending on department, in-office requirements are currently flexible and very reasonable. This is a major strength. Working for such a powerful brand can be a career accelerator, but you need to be willing to leave. And quitting Porsche can be hard if you love cars. It’s a powerful drug.

Cons

The company’s financial health is due in large part to the organization running very lean and relying heavily on contract based employees who have little incentive to remain in the long run. The work they do is usually very important, but their presence is undervalued and many are treated as “other.” Examples include separate parking that requires a walk outside to reach the office, little or no paid vacation, no fringe benefits. Again, this is for contractors. So it creates a revolving door of people in positions that benefit from more experienced staff rather than new people. The company has also been atrophying full time staff slowly since 2020, and the fatigue from that is growing. Small departments often struggle in silence. Advancement / promotion opportunities are few, especially in smaller departments.
