      Senior Managers views on working in RBC

      Pros

      RBC is a great place to work for someone starting into middle management or anywhere within IT. With middle management jobs there is good growth potential and learning opportunities up to the senior manager level. As for IT roles, RBC has a long history of operating a large and quality IT shop.

      Cons

      Since an initiative 5 years ago known as "Client First" the growth opportunities for senior management (and some exec) has all but ceased. While this is a simple outcome of a flatter organization, the comp structure (particularly for PL06 roles) has not fundamentally changed to allow for growth within the salary band.

      Pros

      Great name to have on your resume; exposure to many aspects of financial services industry. Good benefits (stock purchase plans especially).

      Cons

      If you're at a branch, hours can be unconventional; may miss things like lunch if it gets busy. Smaller branches have less flexibility regarding vacations because of small teams (need to maintain coverage).

      Pros

      Good employer that prioritizes the interests of its employees. The work environment is collegial and there are plenty of opportunities to move ahead and gain valuable experiences in virtually all areas of the bank

      Cons

      There are however many people who get ahead based not on merit but on relationships. Culture also tends to be very conservative
