Pros

RBC is a very large and stable company that offers good compensation (but lower than most banks). The work environment is good, and there's lots of opportunity to try several different career paths. You work at one Canada's premier companies with major brand recognition, and for the most part the people are great.

Cons

You need to find the right manager. RBC can be a great place to work, but with the wrong manager it can be very difficult and stressful! They also have very rigid systems and policies in place which is good as it can make the job very easy once you've mastered the system, just don't expect to be able to use personal judgment or think outside the box.

Pros

- fairly low stress environment - very good work/life balance - management generally quite good - solid recognition programs in place

Cons

- huge organization that moves very slowly - many people I worked with were just putting in their time. Low motivation levels by some staff - Liimited opportunity for advancement - below average compensation

Pros

The hours were great 815-515 m-f. Benefit package was good, vacation time was good. If you are from Canada, RBC is one of the only banks in the southeast that does crossborder banking to link accounts.

Cons

They make decisions on emotions versus facts, I was let go for a client abusing his account that I opened 2 months prior even though I followed policy and procedure/protocol....and I was one of their top bankers. They are also laying off left and right so unless you are a peon you are in trouble of losing your job...they call it restructuring. Don't trust anyone even if they are nice to you, it is all cya and throwing people under the bus to save themselves when things arise no matter what it is or even if it involves you or not.
