Pros

Salary potential is through the roof. Exciting, fast paced environment. Trading platform and research availability are very solid. Corporate travel and satellite work usually ok.

Cons

Very difficult to get your foot in the door. Base salaries are low and the first few years working solely on comm. can be tough.

Pros

Co workers are willing to share knowledge and experience. Home office personnel are cooperative and friendly. Working for individual brokers allows for some time off flexibility

Cons

Senior and middle management seems top heavy with some employees with little or no visible job requirements. Training has been limited since conversion to new system. Training is limited to new sales assistant program. Procedures seem to change from day to day without notify the branch office personnel.

Pros

Great name to have on your resume; exposure to many aspects of financial services industry. Good benefits (stock purchase plans especially).

Cons

If you're at a branch, hours can be unconventional; may miss things like lunch if it gets busy. Smaller branches have less flexibility regarding vacations because of small teams (need to maintain coverage).
