Pros

Raytheon like most defense contractors provides good job security, relatively good benefits, and a competitive salary. Gives some educational reimbursement

Cons

It may be hard for some engineers to be put on the top projects and receive recognition in order to advance.

Pros

Great benefits. Stable work environement. Recognition and advancement.

Cons

You have to be extremely self-driven to get ahead but don't ever step on any toes. Over the last 5 years legacy systems that were the bread and butter of success have been replaced by new software driven control systems that have put handcuffs on how processes are done. Bean counters rule the programs and R&D is barely negligable. We lose valuable projects to outside vendors because we have initiated stringent new policies on ourselves that make us more expensive than outside work. There are too many chiefs and not enough indians anymore.
