Pros

Good starting salary, the job provides a good introduction into the translation industry. Plenty of opportunities for overtime. Colleagues tend to be friendly.

Cons

Lack of career progression opportunities, very high turnover rate which places a strain on middle management. Reliance on steady stream of graduates means that people are only trained to a certain level -- beyond that, there's nowhere to go in terms of promotion or further training. Overtime culture to a certain extent - leaving on time on a regular basis is frowned upon. Stress is a real issue and is not taken seriously as a problem by HR/management, even when backed up by a doctor's note. No communication between senior management and staff. Positive feedback is rare.

Pros

Nice people, good facilities, study support offered, pension scene, health insurance

Cons

Limited car parking, very low pay, no study leave. Although they offer study support there are not really any opportunities for career development. Continuously doing the same repetitive duties.

Pros

Good benefits: fair pay, pension, private health care, overtime pay, good Christmas party and gifts. Most colleagues are friendly. Open door policy with management. Friendly working atmosphere. Job security as the company is doing well and they only promote internally.

Cons

The work is very repetitive and as such it gets boring quickly and graduates soon leave. The "friendship" groups among colleagues are cliquey. As there is a high turnover rate, there are always new faces so if you're lucky to arrive at the same time as others, then you're in with a chance to fit into a group. The area the company is based is also dead from a social point of view and very expensive. Gerrards Cross is among the top ten most expensive places in the UK! So unless you have a car or already have somewhere to live, then there might be issues finding somewhere both affordable and adequate. They also look down on you being late - even by 5 minutes - and you're strongly encouraged to stay longer afterwards to make up for any lateness. But leaving early even if you arrive early isn't allowed.
