      It was a great experience but I miss the Old SAIC - when it was Employee-owned.

      Pros

      Flexibility to work at home use to be something you earned. Someone who earned the trust of the employer. This past year flexibility went haywire, employee work schedule is unpredictable, flexibility is over the top. ( A nightmare for a manager to keep track of timecards) but employees really seem to love it.

      Cons

      Appears lay offs are targeted at employees due to their age not their experience. SAIC replacing employees who were laid off before they're even out the door. Need to allow employees to evaluate managers not just vice versa. When SAIC was an employee-owned company it was an Awesome place to work. Founder of the company was fair across the board. Miss the old SAIC structure SAIC is definately not the same after it went public.

      Don't Expect Much Reward or Security

      Name recognition, everyone knows the company by name Outside people usually have favorable opinion of company

      Cons

      Too big, you are just a number collecting revenue for the company Out the door as soon as contract is lost - no security in being in a big company Management is a good-old-boy network where incompetent managers are kept on overhead after they lost their contracts Managers get angry when you try to find better positions within the company and other groups know not to 'rob' you from where you are presently working They used to get their fair share of contracts but now they are subs at best. Being a sub is like begin a red-headed step child Once the company went public the culture changed for the worse. Company basically at the same point as IPO so this speaks to poor management 2-3%, at best, is average annual pay increase

      No stellar salary, but good emphasis on work / life balance

      Pros

      A great group of people to work with and a joy to show up at work. Benefits are above many other companies.

      Cons

      Hard to get trade training to keep up with current technology. Job positions are advertised lower than they actually are.
