      Pros

      job security is relatively high since most of their work are related to government contracts. pressure is not that high.

      Cons

      they project seems to be limited to short or medium terms, after that you may have to switch to different ones.

      Pros

      The upside is that the company builds important products with a fair amount of "gee whiz". Depending on the project, you can have some autonomy. There are some really sharp people. Salary, benefits are very good (1:1 401k match, 16 days/year paid leave).

      Cons

      If you get stuck on a bad project (i.e. one that is doomed before you even hear about it), it can trail you for a long time. It's my experience that when assigned to a project, some crucial technical decisions have already been made (by people not qualified to make them and who aren't responsible for making the darn thing work). A lot depends on the business unit and location. Some work locations provide excellent environments (offices, adequate lab space) while others are just giant cube farms with PhDs in cubicles. General environment seemed better during the employee-owned days.

      Pros

      SAIC is a very comfortable place to work in. You would never have to spend more than 9 hours in office. In case you do work in shifts that ends at 10:30 in the night, you get 300-600Rs every day. The food here is very good and its FREE. The compensation is extremely good and is definitely better than any software giant in India except for the global biggies like google, Microsoft and Intel. The head count in India is low and that is one of the primary reasons you are given a lot of importance in the company. The people in the senior management are really cool and very approachable. Its a Fortune 200 company, so obviously all the systems/policies are in place. Very good for married people looking to settle in bangalore/Noida. Growth is Superb.

      Cons

      The company basically caters to US Defense and other government bodies, so it does not publicizes itself and its indian head count being less, not many know about this company. So the pride associated deteriorates. No long term visibility Very little Onsite opportunities Lack of trainings in certain technologies, as participants would be low.
