Pros

Transparent culture and decision making Strong moral compass from Fisk on down Support and encourage cross career functional development

Cons

Antiquated work from home policy - only allowed if you work 25 miles or more from the office! You could live 30 miles away and it only takes 20 min on the train but you could live 5 miles away and it takes 45 min on the bus or el but apparently that doesn’t matter. Outdated vacation policy starts at 2 weeks ; takes 5 years before you get 3 weeks. Profit sharing (no bonus) rewards length of employment rather than performance. You could have outstanding performance in your first year but you only get $1,000 in profit sharing (no bonus) or be mediocre and work there for 12 years and make $15,000.

Pros

Benefits are great, Johnson family cares about the company and its' employees.

Cons

Upper management out of touch on how to get work done. They think it just happens, they do not appreciate or recognize those who do the work and do not listen to them when there are issues.

Pros

Some good partnerships at peer level Unique benefits like childcare center and concierge Interesting company history

Cons

There was little to no internal mobility in my function, I felt I couldn't build a career here. Overall, the organization is very flat. I was an external hire and it quickly became clear to me that my external perspectives and ways of working were not embraced and folks that did move had deep, personal relationships with leaders. I am also disappointed in lack of good female leaders at this company. The leaders that are in place have never inspired me and have taught me how NOT to treat people and run a business. The lack of focus to drive the business is marred by lack of leadership accountability, an "every man for himself" culture and zero flexibility. In one year nearly everyone on my team has left to pursue opportunities at other organizations.

We’re sorry you feel your time at SCJ didn’t provide you with the career opportunities and purpose you were seeking. We work hard to be a place where people feel inspired to do great work and feel good about it, and we appreciate this feedback.
