Pros

Nice offices, benefits. Progressive HR toward benefits.

Cons

Employee and customer suggestions for product improvements are often ignored. Features and release cycles are not based on the needs I heard from customers and the channel. Inside sales people (selling only one product in the portfolio) attempt to sell large installations and then ask for help in designing and implementing. Often this means getting help from development people or channel people they competed with. Yet our motto was that the customer came first.

Pros

Compensation was good at Sage, certainly early on. And before the talent drain, employed some very bright people. Additionally, they were very generous to employees in terms of recognition and tokens of appreciation.

Cons

Due to the business model that favors acquisition over innovation, it seems to have a very disjointed mission and series of goals. And a definite 'milking' of customers is prevalent in their annual upgrade cycle.

Sage is process oriented, not solution oriented.

Pros

pay is okay, benefits are average, good teamwork between individual people of same work groups (not incl. mgmt); occassionally there are interesting projects that challenge you;

Cons

limited career growth if not in Atlanta (HQ) or Irvine; 40 hrs / wk is minimum expectations; mgmt does not listen to employees - they have team mtgs and annual reviews but little change occurs as a result of any employee feedback; mgmt just wants one status rpt after another - real productivity killer; mgmt (under the guise of fact finding) seek for people to blame when things go wrong, rather than focusing on the problem occurred and then rectifying it; praise is seldom given from mgmt, more often it comes from your peers;
