Pros

Very Stable company with locations outside of big city commutes and hassles. Our London location houses a large number of IT employees who, on average, have a 15-20 minute commute on a bad day. Housing is reasonable in a city that is accessible to big city attractions. Detroit, Buffalo and Toronto are each two hours away. A recent focus on technology standards allows for simplified solutions and cost transparency.

Cons

Too focused on being located in Toronto for advancement at senior levels. While much lip service is given to other locations hiring practices focus on Toronto locations and a serious 'out of sight, out of mind' attitude persists in opportunity and advancement.

Pros

Toronto Dominion is not in the sub-prime lending business and has not lost billions of dollars as a result unlike other banks in North America.

Cons

Even though the merger between TD and TD Banknorth and Commerce bank appears to be going smoothly, there still may be layoffs in the coming months or next year due to the poor economic outlook in the USA.

Pros

TD Bank as a whole has a very diverse workforce, and TD Securities does too. Cultural celebrations are observed and participated in by people who aren't even of that culture, for example the chinese new year. Some departmens focus a lot on team work, while others are more independent work focused, so there is soemthing for everyone. With the right educaiton, there is a lot of upward mobility. I would also note that TDS is currently the top whole sale bank on bay street in several categories. Also, TD, led by TDS, stayed out of a lot of the sub-prime debacle.

Cons

Very much oganized into silos. Not much interaction between most deprtments unless it is built into the job.
