Pros

thyssenkrupp provided good health benefits and retirement plan. Sales staff were afforded a company phone and vehicle which was traded out on a regular basis. Time between being on the road & in the office was well balanced, and there was always enough work to keep you busy. thyssenkrupp does manufacture excellent elevators, and they do encourage best practices. It is very easy to sell their products and services knowing that you've got the goods to back it up. Some of their competitors can't say the same.

Cons

-There is no formal training available for new sales staff beyond shadowing another salesperson for a while if that is possible (depending on the market). The elevator trade is very niche and technical, so new sales persons often find themselves drowning in information. -thyssenkrupp Canada is severely lacking on the technology front. When I started in 2012 we were still using a DOS based system which was only upgraded in 2017. There is no CRM for sales staff. I repeat, when I left in the year of our Lord 2018, there was NO CRM. In a multi-million dollar company. Sure, there were promises, but nothing ever materialized. My CRM consisted out Outlook, my Hilroy Notebook, and a dusty filing cabinet. Inexcusable. -Salespersons were paid base salary + commission. The base salary was below competitors, and the commission structure was in a constant state of change. At the end of my tenure, it became so onerous to qualify for a quarterly bonus, I almost gave up on it entirely. If you're working in a large centre such as Toronto or Calgary, you're laughing. In a small market? You have to scrape hard for it. Salary went up every year along with the cost of living, but there were no "raises". New staff would be hired and make more than you. -Depending on the staffing levels in your market, and how responsibilities are divided, it will get quite busy and you will find yourself working at home as much as you're working at work. If you're going to kill yourself like that, your company darn well better recognize you for it in your paycheque.
