Pros

Some reasonable travel and holiday related benefits

Cons

Want a career at TUI IT? Forget what you know about IT and become a politician. Staff appraisal is full of contradictions and is pushed onto junior & middle management with no buy in from senior managers or directors at all. HR are a joke too and always seem to support senior management, even when acting highly unethically (although I do not know of any actual illegal behaviour)

Pros

- international working environment - opportunity to develop and try many different types of roles - dynamic and result driven company

Cons

- as it is a large organisation, the internal politics can be inefficient and time consuming - although it is an international environment it is still challenging to move roles across businesses if you do not know the right people. (HR have limited visibility, motivation to work across businesses and markets)

Pros

- Looks good on the CV - Generally nice teams and people - Slight discount on holidays, can work out really good if you time it right on the right product.

Cons

- Seniors care little for the people on lower bands. Only 6 bands in structure so all the "doers" end up on the lowest bands, with all progression limited to management. - Many incompetent members of the team, never sene anyone let go, this hinders progression and talent. High turn over of people due to awful bosses. - Still lead by an old group of friends from the old London office. They must have all scored amazing deals when they moved to Luton, as they've all worked for the company for 15+ years, bringing very little to the table in terms of talent, yet all seem to work from home when they wish, and get promoted constantly into unlisted roles. - HR exist only to help management, not the employees. I've raised complaints and got nowhere, then been berated by bosses for daring to do so. - Past 2 years the morale of the company has drifted drastically, it's not "fun" anymore, all events are forced. - Very nervous about possible redundancies - very overcrowded office, considering the TUI HQ is in Germany.... - There is noone that doesn't seem to be talking about leaving. It's a common joke between strangers in the lift. - Parking is AWFUL, due to the office being over capacity, parking is shared across 3/4 destinations, and often fill up by 8.30am.

TUI Group Response

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Within TUI we have a lot of focus on personal and career development, from our regular company-wide “Learning Weeks” to the comprehensive range of online learning opportunities (details of these can be found on the Smile Intranet). We also use the Smile Intranet to advertise opportunities both within the UK and our global opportunities. We have recently launched a new focus on agile working at TUI, to enable colleagues to work in the best way for them and their wider team (be that working at the office or elsewhere). Alongside this initiative we already offer a number of different options when travelling to the Luton offices. This includes car sharing opportunities and discounted train travel (with a free shuttle bus from the train station and our offices). We encourage colleagues to feedback views and any concerns they may have through a number of internal channels. One way is to become a representative on our Colleague Engagement Forum (CEF) or share your views with your CEF representative. We have also recently introduced regular “Cuppa and Chats” with our Board Directors and Senior Management, an informal way to discuss and raise any concerns.
