Pros

Target is still a place that you can work at if you want to work two jobs or work and go to school. Target is very willing to work with your schedule.

Cons

I understand that we are in a recession, and businesses are trying to do things differently in order to stay afloat, but Target is severly understaffing now. The staff levels would be ok if this were another company, but Target is all about delivering great guest service, and that is not possible with the payroll that is not being spent now.

Pros

Target is fine for kids right out of high school to gain some real world work experience. It is also good for housewives who want something to do while their children are at school, and maybe earn a little manicure money.

Cons

If you are an adult who needs to support a household and you find yourself at Target, you learn fast that your in real trouble. The opportunity to advance IF you are not considered one of the "favorites" does not exist.

Pros

Overall I have had great direct managers at Target who have supported my advancement. The headquarters buildings are nice and conveniently located. There is opportunity to advance - as long as you can manage through the political environment. There are lots of opportunities to take lateral moves to other areas.

Cons

Many places in headquarters are very political and people spend way to much time managing egos. The culture doesn't encourage or reward honest and open discussion and idea sharing. There are two many "pre-meetings" to agree on "messages" before meeting with other areas. This takes time away from actually doing the work that drives results.
