Pros

1. Some jobs are easy and do not take much effort 2. Almost anyone can get a job. 3. The store is in a good area 4. Sometimes there is free food in the break room. 5. You can live off of it for a few months (dont expect any "fun money") 6. Plenty interaction with customers (Although some may be negative.) 7. You normally are not rejected of vacation time if you put it in on time. 8. It is a relativly easy job to quit. 9. If you can not find a job it is good to hold you over untell you find one.

Cons

1. No reconization of avability 2. If you ask to get a problem fixed they will do it for a week than go back to the same problem. 3. Favorites are obviously picked and others get worse jobs. 4. Don't start as a cashier because you will go back to cashiering constantly no matter what job you get. You will just be back up if someone is sick or goes on vacation, 5. Management pretends to be nice to get what they want. 6. Benefits are almost pointless, 10% off is not enough. 7. Dont expect to get every other weekend off. 8. Some people do not work making it hard for everyone else. This is ignored by the GSTLs and no one is ever fired. 9. I've had GSTLs yell at people because they didn not know how to do something their self's. 10. Good luck workign at guest service, the return policy is horrible. 11. You are constantly bugged to sell red cards.l 12. You are timed on the computer so you can be "fun and friendly" or you can make good time to get a good score. Either way this will come up on your yearly review and WILL affect you. 13. Yearly raises are pathetic. 14. The pay is not enough to live off of. 15. After close you finish off everyone else's jobs, and they normally leave the worst to cashiers. 16. You are told not to join unions, the training video has a whole large section on it. 17. You are encouraged to have multiple jobs in the store but you normally end up cashiering. 18. Hour Cuts are horrible, I've worked a six hour week. 19. Everything is put into statistics. 20. You get in trouble for things that are not your fault. 21. Management trys to make you feel bad for mistakes, no matter how small. 22. Calling in sick can be a problem, I've been told, you dont sound sick or your really going to cause us problems by not coming in.

Pros

The benefits is a huge factor. Not only can you get medical, dental, and vacation time as part time but you get tons of discounts all over. You can get discounts to your gym, cell phone company, weight watchers, and a LOT MORE.

Cons

It's all about management. I had great LODs (leader on duty) and horrible ones. I had some that gave constant regonition and rewarded with ice cream and popsicles that the end of the night and I had some where I wanted to walk out screaming. The hours are another thing. I could have 38 hours one week and 8 the next.

Pros

Stable company that provides real opportunity for advancement and/or job changes. Also, if you like retail, Target does for the most part live up to its claim to value work/life balance (even during the holidays), so you really will work a mostly five day work week and have every other weekend off, which is rare in retail.

Cons

You will get tired of people getting tired of people thinking they are the first to tell you they call the store "Tar-zhay." Seriously, though, you have to accept that to to advance to upper level jobs you will need to fit the culture of the company. Also, you must be willing to work half your weekends and some nights unless you are not in the stores.
