Pros

Is this a joke? The hours - 3am-9am in a building with no air conditioning. The pay - You'll be pressured into forfeiting a portion to the United Way. Career advancement - Who needs a career anyway?

Cons

My favorite moment at UPS was reading a message in a bathroom stall that said: "Under Paid Slaves" This organization leads by intimidation. "Management" retains employees with empty promises of career advancement. Want to progress from part-time management to full-time management? You better plan on delivering packages instead. But wait! You have a degree? It doesn't matter - none of my managers had a college education. UPS is managed by truck drivers, not leaders.

Pros

They pay pretty well. At times you can get time off if you really need it. If you dont like to ever get out of your desk, and are not good at making your own decisions UPS is the place for you.

Cons

Extremely long hours. You have to spend the entire christmas season working, including saturdays. Very high stress, seems like more than a normal amount of people have heart problems. High divorce rate (b/c of long hours) . Although it does pay well, when you break it down to an hourly rate its not that good. Your work is never correct. All managment is good at is making reports look the way they want them.

Pros

This company has tremendous respect for individuals who are hard-working. Employees are treated with respect and upper management are fairly competent within their positions. Job security was not as much of a concern when I worked there as other companies were going through a series of layoffs during the economic downfall.

Cons

Career advancement is very slow to progress with positions taking months to interview for. However, feedback from upper management makes it seem that patience is key as they are in comfortable positions now even though it took a long time to get there. Salary is on the low end of the scale for comparable positions elsewhere. Educational assistance is minimal for employees seeking to obtain advanced degrees.
