Pros

Very secure employment. Challenging work environment with great opportunities for growth if one is willing to relocate for significant career advancement.

Cons

Long workdays are by design and expected of supervisors, mid and senior managers. Difficult to secure resources at times and it is a very cost sensitive operating environment.

Pros

Stable and profitable company, very nice HQ campus in Atlanta/Sandy Springs, deep heritage, overall friendly employees.

Cons

Lack of sophistication & too many rules -- This place is run like a military operation and by former warehouse employees which creates an interesting (not favorable) corporate office dynamic. HR sends a "dress code" packet prior to interviews, which is distributed an additional 3 times during onboarding, and covers items such as type of men's shoewear, 2 in min on women's sleeveless tops, number of toes a woman can show on her "opened to me shoe," etc. Limited number of items allowed on cubicles, and regularly staff counts items on each cube. That's just the start. Turnover and homogenous culture- they've struggled to retain MBAs and marketing talent mainly due to culture. Most people, mid and Sr. Level, started with UPS when in college and moved up the ranks. Most are above 50 and Caucasian. Diversity (ERGs) are taking off, slowly. Some call its culture "cult like" as meetings are opened with a reading from a UPS History book, followed by discussion. A nice tradition of tolerable. No risk taking here. Ever. UPS likes to wait for the competiton to do it first.

Pros

Your paycheck will always be on schedule. You'll learn a ton about what not to do as management.

Cons

They think they own you once you go into full time management and receive a stock bonus. They actually sent out a memo telling full time management employees to "be available" to work on Christmas day as if being screwed the entire month of December, especially on Christmas eve, wasn't enough. They said "we're not telling you to cancel your travel plans... Just be available to work at your destination if needed."...on CHRISTMAS DAY. So to hell with your time and family, let's make sure our employees hate the abusive company they work for.
