Pros

Selfless service Job benefits Early retirement Potential for advancement

Cons

Current deployment cycle is too aggressive on military families. The Army works at an aggressive pace to deploy-refit-deploy. So when you are 'home', you aren't really home due to all the state-side training and missions.

Pros

The benefits are priceless Guaranteed pay check Opportunity to meet new people and visit new places Pick up crucial skills for life

Cons

Micromanagement Sometimes, the whole rank system gets political Must be prepared for combat at any time Must be prepared to be separated from family when the Army needs it
