Pros

Gained training, structure, and strong work ethic. The benefits and costs were pretty balanced, now that the real world is sinking in with health, dental, and life insurance are added budgetary costs. All in all, great life experience, but can only be handled for so long.

Cons

Uneven award and promotion systems; deployed too often; antiquated technology and equipment; occasional bad leadership but most would try to do the right thing.

Pros

Basically if you have to make a calculated decision out of desperation to propel your life. The Army may be a great way to do it, if you can suck it up for 4 years.

Cons

Loss of identity, independence, freedom, dignity and sanity. It gets old quick and there is always this sword hanging over your head thats threatening to give you a dishonorable discharge if you step out of line.
