Pros

The Army provides a high level of job satisfaction (i.e., you never really question how important your work is)

Cons

Long deployments and high optempo make maintaining a personnal life difficult. Additionally, a significant amount of time is spent training while in garrison which adds to the work/life imbalance.

Pros

The benefits are great. Salary is not the main motivator (naturally) but educational benefits help prepare soldiers for employment outside of the military.

Cons

Effective communication between supervisors and subordinates is lacking. Many leaders are in the "because I said so" state of mind. Army is the only military that does 12 month deployments.
