Pros

- Relative job security and benefits package. - Salary is often competitive with civilian counterparts. - 20 year pension at no cost to employee. - Opportunity for changing career paths. - Educational and training opportunities are vast and make up the bulk of some careers. Some of these training opportunities are unique to the service and would likely never be encountered in any other venue. - Excellent experience and benefits package after only several years (GI Bill, 5 yrs post combat health insurance, other veterans benefits).

Cons

- Extremely poor or non-existent career advisement. Some extraordinary opportunities are out there, but unless you're either lucky or fortunate enough to encounter its existence, you may not discover it until far too late in a career, or not at all. - Certain career tracks tend to draw certain people. It's important to take that possibility into consideration when choosing a career track.

Pros

There isn't a soul there that hasn't been through something extraordinary in his or her life. You WILL find folks that care!

Cons

Rules can be contradictory at times but that comes from the lack of communication. But hey, with so many people you can't expect everything to run smooth.

Pros

The Army is a very good place for those who dont know what they are doing in life or if they have no other options. Job Stability, Family Security, and good people to work with.

Cons

It is not a decision to take lightly. but if you wish to decide beaware of the recruiter because they will say and do anything to get you in. this doesnt make the army bad it just makes them bad. You must also realize that you are Sacraficing famly time for family security. So weigh your options Family Security means nothing if your wife just up and leaves 6monthes after you sign because she didnt realize what you were getting into
