Pros

Being an officer in the Army provides great growth and development. As a young person you get to have a scope of impact far in excess of what would happen in the civilian world.

Cons

The operations tempo of the Army leads to serious challenges with family life. Additionally, the uniform rank progression adds often leads the best to get out.

Job Stability (always going to be here) Benefits (Healthcare, insurance, etc) Respect of the career (Everyone seems to like the Army)

Horrible Hours (expected to work 12 hours day at minimum) Rank and promotion determined strictly by time in service, not capability. Deployments

Pros

Good place to gain leadership experience. Great group of co-workers that are trying to all get the same job done.

Cons

Having a normal life outside of work is very hard to maintain. Often leaders do not have enough respect for their soldiers.
