Pros

Fellow peers are friendly and knowledgable, they can make the role an enjoyable experience. Opportunity to add significant value to the assets, contribute to ‘security of supply,’ and ensure Europe is provided with electricity.

Cons

Decision to stop providing external engineering consultancy means the variety of interesting engineering projects are limited. The Engineering function doesn’t feel valued in the organisation due to the business decision mentioned above, the subsequent downsizing of the engineering function, and the continuous organisational rearranging of the engineering function. Uniper has found it very difficult to hire new talent from outside the business, while it is true that the whole of the industry is struggling, Uniper should ask themselves why they specifically they cannot hire new talent and why they cannot retain their existing talent. Overall salary and performance based remuneration is below the average for the energy industry. Unfortunately, rather than incentivising existing employees, Uniper uses coercive techniques and implement dubious policies in an attempt to discourage employees from leaving. On this basis I cannot recommend Uniper as an employer.
