Pros

Walmart has recently restructured the managemet schedules so that you pretty much know what your schedule will be throughout the year. Although your superior manager can change your schedule making you work whatever they want you to work. Work schedule for day management is 3 days on 3 days off 8am-8pm daily. Overnight shift i 4 on and 4 off 8pm-8am.

Cons

Schedule can be changed whenever regardless Over the years walmarts focus has turned from customer and associates to just making a quick buck. Pay is not competitive to other assistant manager positions I have seen, when you are managing a store 4 times the size

Pros

- Great resume builder. Other companies love to see Wal-Mart on a resume. - exposure to different technologies - able to move around laterally every 2 years - peer review process within evaluation system - If you are identified as a "fast track" individual then you will be advanced at a blinding speed.

Cons

- Wal-Mart ISD is based on metrics. The sooner you figure out what you're being graded on, the sooner you'll advance. - You are a number at ISD. Do not ask for special consideration. Work-life balance is based on numbers, not the needs of the individual. - Directors-level and above managers tend to stagnate in a role and create a feifdom, even turning down promotions to stay comfortable. - Certain groups get more consideration for advancement than the norm. This appears to be done without consideration to their fit within the role or the team.

Pros

I like the associates that I work with. Some of the customers are nice. If I know of a day or several days that I need off and put in a request several months in advance, I can usually get them off. I like that when I leave my area, I do not have to take anything home with me.

Cons

The mangers can be mean and demanding of the associates. Sometimes they are mean to each other. In the area that I work, the schedule is very random. If the schedule were set I would love it. Some of the customers are mean. Most of the time it is hard to get a hold of a manager and that is frustrating when there is an angry customer staring at you. I do not always get my breaks or lunches on time, or at all. Most of the time I also do not get to leave work on time.
