Pros

The pay is typically good, benefits package meets industry standard. Grab the money, pay off your school loans, then get a real pharmacy job.

Cons

Ccommunication stucture itself adequate, but, no input or discussion allowed, often extremely short notice. Lack of understanding of pharmacy department, including regulatory matters, by local store management. You will not be allowed any original ideas, or time to implement anything in the community. Overall lack of respect.

Pros

The insurance is good. I know I make more money than some of my peers. I feel like its job security because so many people shop there. No matter how bad the economy gets, consumers are still going to need to buy groceries so I also feel like its a good choice to stay stable in uncertain times.

Cons

Wal-Mart's attendance policy leaves things to be desired. I understand that people shouldn't call in all the time. But I totally disagree with giving someone an unexused absense when they have a doctor's note to prove that they or a family member were actually ill. I have a write up on my record that i was given for missing a total of six days in a twelve month period. Only one of those absenses did not include a doctor's note. Actually the one day I missed that I didn't go to the doctor was due to a sunburn I recieved while I was working on a charity project for guess who...Wal-Mart!

Pros

Pay; for loyal people doing entry-level work, the pay stacks up better than the competitors. A measly 10% discount helps a little. They contribrute slightly to profit sharing. And honestly, they let you get away with murder as far as attendence and rules are concerned(assuming you are an asset to them). They have to go through four diciplinary stages before you can be terminated.

Cons

As with any service field, you are a customer doormat. The company seems to be on a decline; an always shrinking staff, incompetent management(who admit to only being there for the pay), no more merit raises, smaller bonuses, raises have went from percentage based to flat rates, each position in the store has a set maximum wage(meaning some people are capped-out so they must work each year with no more raises-where's the incentive in that considering the cost of living is soaring??? New hires seem to be making the same or more than me(an 8 year employee), it's very hard to get weekends off, if you get written up you can't promote or transfer stores for a whole year...I'm sure there's tons more, oh my hours suck, but that's my own fault, overnights pays $1.50 more an hour. Oh, and COMMUNICATION SUCKS! And they have been cutting hours during traditionally busy times of the year-forget overtime.
