Pros

CSN was a great first job out of college. It was an easy transition from college life into the professional world. Dress code is lax, the workforce is young. Overall, it feels like college. Also, for many of us, the level of repsonsibility and experience we receive here is far greater than you would get at other companies. The benefits are also great.

Cons

Although most of the management level employees are very nice, a good number of them have no clue what they're doing. It's not their fault, they were promoted based on who had been here the longest, and not on who deserved it. CSN boasts that they hire from within for the upper level roles. While that's nice because you think that maybe you'll be promoted one day, it makes for a pretty sub-standard management group overall. If that problem wasn't bad enough, CSN refuses to make the tough decisions necessary to improve management. Salary- what salary? The overwhelming majority of CSN employees are basically living paycheck to paycheck with no end in sight. The pay is insulting. Many employees are in positions where they have a lot of responsibility but are not properly compensated. Obviously, that leads to a lack of motivation and a general bitterness. Quality of work then suffers. CSN seems to be banking on the idea that most of the employees will accept the poor compensation with the faint hope that things will change for them. The process of looking for a new job is probably worse than moving, so there are a few factors keeping people here. But, with a salary freeze in place, morale has never been lower.

Pros

CSN offers a great work environment for young people that are interested in learning about e-commerce or being part of a dynamic growing company. The perks are fantastic and management goes above and behind to ensure that our package is competitive and increase on a yearly basis. While the ability to grow at the company has defintiely slowed down, management offers opportunities for all to advance if they are qualified for the role.

Cons

With the economy suffering, priorites have defintiely shifted to keep pace with the changing business world. The moral of the company has suffered as a result and I think more emphasis should be placed on understanding the stress level of employees, especially those on the entry level that might not have the same window into what is actually going on day to day at the higher level.

Pros

CSN Stores offers good benefits including company tickets to professional sports events and other cultural events. They have a decently stocked snack collection in the kitchen. Yep.

Cons

Very little recognition for hard work. Favoratism plays a huge part in being rewarded with further opportunities. The customer service department is largely neglected despite being the backbone of the company. Tenure and work ethic used to play a large part in the promotion process, however these factors seem to have been forgotten about. Despite working at CSN Stores for almost 2 years in the Customer Service department and receiving top scores and many accolades, there is clearly no room for growth or recognition. It is near impossible to make a lateral move, let alone obtain a promotion.
