Pros

I received good IT equipment for my work. Except this I haven't had any other positive experiences with the company.

Cons

Feedback on Onshore Team and Office Dynamics (UK and US): No Job Security: There is no job security at all. They can terminate your employment at any point and ask you not to come to the office the next day. They don't even provide a notice period, requiring you to leave within a day.
Delayed Equipment Provision: It took two months to receive essential IT equipment like a laptop and mouse. Lack of Trust: There's a noticeable lack of trust from the onshore team towards the Indian office. Micromanagement: Constant interference in every minor detail leaves no room for autonomy. Office Politics: Office politics are rampant, impacting productivity and morale. Poor Work-Life Balance: There's no work-life balance; working 12-hour days is expected, or you're deemed inadequate. Unclear Expectations and Training: Expectations are unclear, and there's a lack of training on company operations. Task Delegation Issues: Onshore team members delegate their tasks without consideration, burdening the Indian team. Communication Confusion: If you ask the Indian team for help, they redirect you to the onshore headquarters, and vice versa. This confusion is prevalent throughout the organization. Time Zone Insensitivity: Meetings are scheduled without consideration for time zones, making it challenging to manage personal time. If you're unable to attend due to prior commitments, it may be perceived as unprofessional. Lack of Clarity on IT Support: There's a lack of clarity on whom to approach for IT or laptop-related issues. Overwhelming Pressure: The pressure to perform is overwhelming and unrelenting. Lack of Welcoming Culture: In India, colleagues don't engage or welcome new hires on their first day. They merely say "hi" and move on, without introducing themselves or inviting newcomers to join them for lunch. Outdated Practices: The company follows old British rules and is resistant to adopting new technologies and modern ways of working, which hinders efficiency and effectiveness. Accountability Issues in Marketing: The onshore marketing team assigns tasks but delays in checking the work, subsequently blaming the Indian team for any issues. Conclusion: Overall, I strongly advise against joining the company due to these significant issues.

Pros

Pros: Work-Life Balance: Wood Mackenzie excels in providing a conducive environment that supports work-life balance, which is invaluable. This aspect makes it a great place to work, especially for those looking to navigate the dynamic energy markets without compromising their personal time.

Cons

Cons: Post-Acquisition Challenges: Since the acquisition by a private equity firm, the company has faced downsizing and has not backfilled roles lost to attrition, significantly affecting team dynamics and workloads. Financial Pressure: The PE firm's expectations for double-digit returns have placed an immense strain on sales teams, especially challenging given the comprehensive offerings already extended to clients within their respective verticals. Service and Growth Concerns: There have been cuts to customer service and limitations on expanding new and existing services, raising questions about the company's growth trajectory and customer satisfaction. Management and Leadership Issues: Recent cuts in senior and middle management, followed by the introduction of seemingly less capable leadership, have created a vacuum in decision-making effectiveness, particularly concerning sales and efficiency improvements. The reliance on an outdated iteration of Salesforce exemplifies a broader issue with processes and systems not aligning with growth expectations. Bureaucracy and Inefficiency: The experience of red tape significantly varies depending on your manager, highlighting an inconsistency in managerial effectiveness. Some middle managers tend to over-involve themselves in processes that neither require improvement nor contribute to the firm's success, at times detrimentally affecting business outcomes. The Great Reshuffling: Sales professionals considering joining should be aware of the impending reshuffling, which suggests further instability within the company. Selective Return to Office Policy: The enforcement of return-to-office policies appears inconsistent, favoring certain departments over others, which could lead to perceptions of unfair treatment.

Culture has become toxic

Pros

The people! The people I worked with on a daily basis were the only thing keeping me tied to the company. The team I was apart of was part well-oiled machine, part family.

Cons

Management does not show support for their teams. They are looking for employees to just say yes and never challenge them, to keep their heads down and work. Any time you ask a real question it’s followed by excuses for why they don’t have answers. The company (PowerAdvocate, now WMSC) has been sold, merged and resold in the course of just the past few years and it has eroded the culture and morale. There is no longer a culture of leadership, but rather a culture of management.
